6. RADAR
This mode has three sets of preset picture adjustment settings, low, medium, and
high. The high setting provides the greatest degree of sensitivity, which makes it suit-
able for long range detection of birds.
Turn off the interference rejector off to make detection of weak echoes easier. Turn on
the interference rejector during a voyage.
To activate or deactivate the Bird mode, do as follows.
1. Open the pop-up menu. Select [Bird Mode].
2. Select the sensitivity level among [Low], [Medium], and [High].
To deactivate the Bird mode, select [Off].
Usage precautions
• The Bird mode is available with the radar sensor DRS2D/4D/4A/6A/12A/25A, soft-
ware version 01.18 or after. The Bird mode is also available with the DRS6A X-
Class radar sensor. The radar sensor DRS4DL does not support the Bird mode.
• Do not use the Bird mode in rough weather.
• Do not use the Bird mode during a voyage. The Bird mode settings are not suitable
in a voyage.
• ARPA performance may be reduced when the Bird mode is active.
• Radar Adjust (Gain, Sea, Rain) and Auto Sea Mode cannot be adjusted when the
Bird mode is active.
• Schools of fish that attract birds tend to dive suddenly, which may result in unstable
or disappearing echoes.
