The compass may not show the correct
direction under the following conditions:
The vehicle is stopped immediately af-
D
ter turning.
The compass does not adjust while the
vehicle is stopped.
The engine switch is turned off immedi-
D
ately after turning.
The vehicle is on an inclined surface.
D
The vehicle is in a place where the
D
earth's magnetic field is subject to in-
terference by artificial magnetic fields
(underground parking, under a steel
tower, between buildings, roof parking,
near a crossing, near a large vehicle,
etc.).
The vehicle is magnetized. (There is a
D
magnet or a metal object on or near
the multi−information display.)
The battery has been disconnected.
D
If the deviation is small, the compass
works to calibrate the direction automati-
cally while the vehicle is in motion.

calibrating,
see
"CALIBRATING
COMPASS".

Compass sensor
The compass sensor is behind the mul-
ti−information display.
NOTICE
Do not put magnets or a metal object
on or near the multi−information dis-
play. Doing so may cause malfunction
of the compass sensor.
THE
If the vehicle is magnetized, the compass
does not show the correct direction and
the compass display blinks as shown.
However, if the compass works to rectify
the direction automatically during driving,
the blinking of the compass display will be
stopped. For additional precision of the
direction, and for an earlier completion of
the
rectification,
rectify
the
