Fax transmission

Problem
I cannot send documents.
The other party complains that
letters on their received document
are distorted.
The other party complains that dirty
patterns or black lines appear on
their received documents.
I cannot make an international fax
call.

Fax reception

Problem
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The display shows "CONNECTING....."
but faxes are not received.
The recording image is faint.
The printing quality is poor.
A blank sheet is ejected after the
received documents are printed out.
The other party's fax machine was busy or ran out of paper. Try
again.
The other party's machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other
party.
The other party's fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax
manually - dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press
START/SET/COPY
If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting,
the service may have been activated during fax transmission.
Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services.
The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang
up the extension telephone and try again.
The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 115).
Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 62).
Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 33) or dial
manually.
The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the TAD/FAX,
FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode.
The time to answer the call is too long. Decrease the number of
rings (p. 68, 75, 101).
The greeting message is too long. Shorten the message (p. 86).
The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode.
The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 115).
Some paper has instructions recommending which side to print
on. Try turning the paper over. We recommend smooth paper
such as Hammermill Jet Print for clearer printing.
The receiving reduction rate is not programmed correctly.
Program the proper rate (p. 77).
