GEAR-CHANGE LEVER IN AUTO-
MATIC TRANSMISSION
(in the design variant)
Switching automatic transmission
(AT) modes is carried out by moving
the gear-change lever in the longitu-
dinal direction (Fig. 40a), depending
on the desired direction of travel. To
unlock the lever from positions R, N,
D, 2 press lock button 1 on the gear-
change lever handle. To unlock the
lever from positions P switch the
ignition on, press the brake pedal
and press button 1 on the lever han-
dle. When changing the lever from
position N to position D and back, as
well as from position 1 to position 2,
and then, to position D you may not
press lock button 1. The selected
mode is displayed on the LCD in the
instrument cluster. Indication of
gear-change lever position shown in
the decorative moulding next to the
lever, is presented as a reference and
is not used when driving.
Figure 40b shows accelerator
pedal 2 and brake pedal 1. When in-
stalling the automatic transmission
the clutch pedal is absent.

Lever position:
Р (parking) – used to avoid rolling
of the vehicle in the parking or when
the engine is started. At the same the
parking brake can be switched on or
off.
R (reverse) – reverse gear. Can
only be activated when the vehicle is
fully stopped, with the engine idling.
N (neutral gear) – used for start-
ing the engine in the parking at the
same time with the working or park-
ing brake on. In addition, this gear-
change lever position can be used to
start the engine when it suddenly

stops while driving, but without using
the parking brake.
ATTENTION!
If driving you accidentally
switched the gear-change lever
to position N, allow the engine to
slow speed before activating
mode D (it is activated without
pressing lock button 1, see Fig.
40a) and then to pick up speed.
D (driving) – used for starting and
driving in automatic gear-change
mode. In this mode, to give desired
speed of the vehicle, for example,
