ELECTRICAL

WARNING
Unless otherwise indicated, always turn
ignition switch to the OFF position before
performing any maintenance or repair on
electrical system.

Spark plug

Removal
Unplug the spark plug cable.
Unscrew the spark plug one turn. Clean the
spark plug and cylinder head with pressurized
air if possible.
WARNING
Always wear safety goggles when using
pressurized air.
Unscrew spark plug completely then remove
it.
Installation
Prior to installation make sure that contact
surfaces of cylinder head and spark plug are
free of grime.
Using a feeler gauge, set the spark plug gap
between 0.6 to 0.7 mm (0.24 to 0.27 in).
Apply anti-seize lubricant over spark plug
threads to prevent a possible seizure.
Screw spark plug into cylinder head by hand
and tighten with a torque wrench and a proper
socket.
Torque spark plug to 20 N·m (15 lbf·ft).

Battery

WARNING
Never charge a battery while installed in
vehicle.
Removal
Disconnect BLACK (-) cable first then RED
(+) cable.
WARNING
Always respect this order for disassembly;
disconnect BLACK (-) cable first.

Remove the holding strap then pull the bat-
tery out of frame.

Cleaning
Clean battery, battery casing and battery
posts using a solution of baking soda and wa-
ter.
Remove corrosion from battery cable termi-
nals and battery posts using a firm wire brush.
Battery casing should be cleaned by soft
brush and baking soda solution.
Installation
Reinstall battery in vehicle.
WARNING
Connect RED (+) cable first then BLACK
(-) cable. Always connect RED (+) cable
first.
