Replacing the optical drive

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the optical drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 88.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.
4. Locate the optical drive. See "Computer components" on page 31.
5. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the rear of the optical drive.
6. Pressing the blue release tabs
of the computer.

7. Flex the optical drive bracket as shown to remove the optical drive from the bracket.
