8. Flex the bracket and insert the two pins on the optical drive bracket into the holes in the new optical
drive. Then, pivot the optical drive downward until it snaps into position.

9. Align the mountain studs in the optical drive bracket with the corresponding holes in the drive bay.
Then, press down the bracket into the drive bay and slide the bracket to the front of the computer until
it snaps into position.

10. Connect the signal cable and the power cable to the new optical drive.
11. Install the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.

Replacing the cover presence switch

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the cover presence switch, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 88.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.
4. Locate the cover presence switch. See "Computer components" on page 31.
