Replacing the USB assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the USB assembly, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 88.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 88.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 104.
5. Locate the USB assembly. See "Computer components" on page 31.
6. Press the retaining clip

7. Disconnect the card reader and USB assembly cables from the front USB connectors in the system
board. See "Parts on the system board" on page 35.
Note: Ensure that you note the location of the cable when you disconnect the cable from the system
board.
