Removing and Replacing the Ballast

The ballast (520-0093-00) is located between the power supply and the outside of the bottom case. The
ballast receives power from the power supply, then steps it up to ignite the lamp module.
DANGER Do not attempt to measure the output voltage from the ballast when the lamp strikes. High voltage
produced by the ballast to strike the lamp can ruin test instruments as well as cause personal injury.
1 Remove the following items:
Top case (see page 13)
Controller ECA (see page 16)
Optical engine (see page 34)
2 Remove the three M3x8 self-tapping Phillips screws that fasten the ballast to the bottom case.
Remove the one M3x6 machine screw that attaches the ballast to the power supply. Make sure
you set aside the cable clips on the top and front screws.
