DDING EMORY
The SuperScript 4600N have four Single Inline Memory
Module (SIMM) slots. The 4600N comes with 96MB RAM.
However, you can upgrade your printer to a maximum of
128MB of RAM through the installation of additional SIMMs.
Installing additional memory will help ensure that your
printer has enough memory to print the most complex
graphic print jobs without sacrificing resolution. Added
memory will also increase print speed.
To order SIMMs from NEC call 800-632-2326 (order number
4064) or use high quality SIMMs with the following
properties:
• 72 pin
• 32 bit wide configuration (i.e. 8M x 32)
• 60 ns
• 5v
• non-parity
• EDO
• 2K refresh
• JEDEC
standard presence detect resistors

If you want to upgrade your memory from 96MB to 128MB,
it is easiest to first remove the two 16MB SIMMs that came
with your printer. Then install two 32MB SIMMs in the two
memory sockets you removed the 16MB SIMMs from. Your
printer now has 128MB of RAM.
(SIMM) To ease installation, remove SIMMs from the bottom memory
sockets first. Install SIMMs to the top memory sockets first.
The instructions on the next page explain how to install
memory in your printer yourself. You can also contact an
NEC-authorized dealer and have more memory installed for
a service fee. Call 800-632-4650.
note:
If you are installing SIMMs of different capacities
you need to use the top two memory sockets marked "A"
for the larger capacity SIMMs.
When you turn on your printer it will automatically
recognize the added memory. The new memory should show
up on the Start Up page shown below. Make sure the printer
driver knows about your added memory. See Chapter 4
about changing device settings in your driver.
