Initial Preparations

Prepareforprintingasfollows.ThisexampleshowsaPostcard-sizeColorInk/PaperSet(sold
separately),butthesamestepsarefollowedforothersizes.

Preparing the Ink Cassette

Ink sheet
• Donotholdtheinkcassettewithwethands.Avoidtouchingtheinksheet,andavoid
gettingdustonit.Dirtormoisturemaycausebandingoraffectprintquality,tearink
sheetsandpreventprinting,ordamagetheprinter.
• Whenturningthesprocket,turnitgently,onlyuntilthesheetistaut.Forcingthe
sprocketorovertighteningitmaytearinksheetsandpreventprinting,orSELPHYmay
runoutofinkbeforepaper.

Neverreuseinkcassettes,whichmaydamagetheprinterorcausemalfunction.

Preparing the Paper Cassette

Check the ink cassette and ink sheet.
z z Holdingtheinkcassettewithouttouchingtheinksheet,check
thesize(suchas"PostcardSize"or"CardSize")tomake
sureitmatchesthesizeofpaperyouwillprinton.

Makesuretheinksheetistaut.Looseinksheetsmaytear
whenloaded.Ifthesheetisloose,turnthesprocketas
shown.
z z Foraninkcassettethathasalockonthebottom,pressthe
lock(asshown)toreleaseitasyouturnthesprockettomake
thesheettaut.

Check the paper size.
z z Check the size on the paper cassette (such as "Postcard
Size"or"CardSize")tomakesureitmatchesthesizeofthe
inkcassette.

Open both covers.
z z Therearetwolayersofcovers.Firstopentheoutercover
( ),andthentheinnercover( ).

Load the paper.

z z Loadthepaperinthepapercassette.
z z
Thepapercassetteholdsupto18sheets.Loading19or
moresheetsmaydamagetheprinterorcausemalfunction.
z z Holdingthepaperasshown,loaditwiththeglossysideup.
(Do not touch the glossy side of the paper, which may affect
printquality.)
z z Remove any protective sheets from the paper, and load only
paperintothecassette.
