Managing System-Initiated Hibernation
When the notebook is in Windows and running on battery power,
Hibernation can be initiated by the system. For example, at
default settings the system initiates Hibernation
Whenever the notebook reaches a critical low-battery
condition.
After 30 minutes of notebook inactivity.
For information about changing these default settings, see the
"Using Power Schemes"
When the notebook is in QuickPlay, Hibernation cannot be
initiated by the system. Instead:
Whenever the notebook reaches a critical low-battery
condition, the system turns off the notebook.
At default settings, after 5 minutes of notebook inactivity,
the system turns off the notebook. For example, after playing
the last track or chapter of a CD or DVD, the notebook
remains on in QuickPlay for 5 minutes and then is turned off.
This auto turn-off feature can be disabled. For instructions,
see the
Chapter 2, "QuickPlay."
