You can install up to five peripheral component interconnect (PCI) adapters in the
expansion connectors, called slots, on the system board.
Your server comes with an integrated video controller, which is not removable. When
you install a video adapter, the server BIOS (basic input/output system) code
automatically disables the integrated video controller.
The following illustration shows the location of the PCI expansion slots on the system
board.
Note: The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.

Adapter considerations

Before you install adapters, review the following:
PCI Slot 1
32-bit
33 MHz (J44)
PCI Slot 2
64-bit
33 MHz (J41)
PCI Slot 3
64-bit
33 MHZ (J42)
PCI Slot 4
64-bit
66 MHz (J29)
PCI Slot 5
64-bit
66 MHz (J30)
Locate the documentation that comes with the adapter and follow those instruc-
tions in addition to the instructions given in this chapter. If you need to change the
switch or jumper settings on your adapter, follow the instructions that come with
the adapter.
You can install full-length and half-length adapters in all slots.
Some full-length adapters with daughterboards can interfere with SCSI channel B
and should not be installed in PCI slot 1.
You can install a 32-bit adapter in any of the PCI slots.
Your server supports 5.0 V and universal PCI adapters; it supports only 3.3 V uni-
versal adapters in PCI slots 4 and 5.
You might require additional power supplies if adapters are added that have elec-
trical current requirements that exceed the installed power-supply capabilities.
