    The SCSI address is a unique address that identifies the 7208 Tape Drive to your AS/400 system unit. Use the SCSI address switch to set the SCSI address of the 7208 Tape Drive. The switch ( 1 in Figure 3) is located on the rear of the tape drive. Figure 3 also shows the SCSI bus cable connectors 2 , the cooling fan 3 , and the power cable connector 4 .

    2. Press the unload button. The 7208 Tape Drive rewinds, unloads, and ejects the tape. The process may take from 15 seconds to several minutes, depending on the position of the tape and the amount of data written. On the LCD, the message EJECT displays, followed by the message READY-NOTAPE.

  • Page 52 5.4 Operating in Harsh Environments The 7208 Tape Drive is ideally suited to streaming operations, as opposed to multiple stop-and-start, random-search tape operations. When the tape is used for frequent stop-and-start operations, it is beneficial to still have as much streaming movement as possible. This can be accomplished by ensuring that any save or restore operation is the only active operation being performed.
