˚ NOTE: The MFC-101 always shows the full list of Axe-Fx functions, some of which are applicable only to the Ultra.
Axe-Fx Standard owners should avoid assigning items marked above using a "degrees" symbol (˚) as these will have
no corresponding function in the Standard. The MFC-101 display indicates this as well, showing the degree symbol
in the menu where these functions are selected.
* NOTE: TUNER or TAP TEMPO can each be assigned to only ONE switch at a given time. If you try to assign a
second switch to one of these functions, the first will have its function changed automatically to "NONE".
5.1.2 "General Use" IA Switches in Axe-Fx mode
Setting an Axe-Fx IA switch to "NONE" disables its Axe-Fx function but enables its "general use" MIDI commands.
These are also totally viable for controlling the Axe-Fx! You will not get the dynamic LED functions offered by
"native" Axe-Fx IAs, but you will be able to save the ON or OFF state of the switch in every individual MFC-101
preset. Remember that saved states determine whether the ON commands or the OFF commands will be sent
automatically when a given preset is loaded.
General use IA Switches are perfect for use with Axe-Fx "EXTERNAL" control nodes. These can be assigned to
control a wide range of functions, making it possible, for example, to use a single footswitch to control multiple
functions at once. See section 5.2 below for details on the general use MIDI commands of Instant Access Switches.
5.1.3 Important Axe-Fx Control Settings
IMPORTANT! To operate properly, every Axe-Fx effect assigned to an IA Switch must have a unique MIDI CC#
assigned under I/O:CONTROL on the Axe-Fx. Using the default settings is recommended.
Although Axe-Fx mode makes it possible to assign the above functions without your needing to know or refer to
MIDI control change number assignments, standard MIDI CC# messages are still used, and these will be echoed at
the THRU port of the Axe-Fx.
