Clearances The fire must be installed with the shown minimum clearances to combustible materials Hearths Although a hearth is not required, if the fire is installed within 00 mm of the floor, Real Fires does recommend that protection is given to any combustible flooring directly in front of the fire. The fire produces a large amount of radiant heat and this might cause damage to carpets and furnishings that are too close.

Framing Notes The flue and firebox must be installed before the wall can be lined. The framing must be self supporting and not place any load on the firebox. The framing shown is indicative only is not intended to illustrate the construction method. The installation shows one flue option (using the optional Y-Piece) but does not represent a complete system. The fire should be installed on a solid platform. Gas and power supply must enter through the left hand end of the firebox. Refer to the next section for notes on external wall installation. When firebox installation is complete, fit cardboard to the front flange of the fire (both sides) to prevent any dust, paint, etc. from subsequent construction drawing into the firebox or marking the glass. 250mm stainless steel inner 300mm galvanised outer flue Note - the Y-piece does not have to be used and the flue...

Burner Installation: Make sure that the power supply is isolated before commencing. Note: The fire box may be supplied complete with the burner already in place. While the burner can be installed and commissioned as soon as the firebox is in place and the gas connected, we recommend that this is left until the wall lining and any painting finishing is complete as it is much easier to clean an empty fire box than a finished fire. (note that the burner can be operated briefly without the burner media in place for the purposes of setting the burner pressure and maintenance etc.) Firebox preparation Loosen the 6 screws holding the control shields and remote receiver plate in place and remove all parts. Plug in the 4 pin fan plug on the right hand side of the firebox. Connect the earth wire to the earthing post using a spring washer and nut. Plug in the 2 pin mains power connection. Fit the remote receiver unit to the cover and feed the CAT5 cable from the control box through the air intake slot and up into the back of the receiver unit.
Burner Installation If using logs/coals/granules on the burner (instead of pebbles or crystals) then it is possible to set up the media while the burner is still out of the fire. Make sure the burner is sitting on a good stable platform and set up the media as per the instructions on the following pages.

Final Checks With all panels in place, check to make sure that the fire is still operating correctly and that the flames are not overly long or streaky and that there is no soot coming from the flame tips. Listen for excessive noise when the fire is igniting or extinguishing.
