Cradle Problems

Table 8-2 lists some common cradle problems and actions to take to resolve them.
Symptom
No communication between
terminal and cradle

Battery is not fully charged.

temperature conditions.
Unnecessary peripherals

The application is not designed
for efficient power use.
Drive not formatted.

Optical window obstructed or
dirty.
Terminal not seated properly in
cradle.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Action
Charge the battery, either in the
terminal or separately for a full 2
hours.
Replace with a fresh, fully
charged battery.
Battery life is shortened if used
in extremely cold conditions.
Disconnect any peripherals not
being used to reduce the drain
on the battery pack.
Consider using power
management services provided
in the 7200 SDK to reduce drain
on battery pack.
Format the drive or download a
new disk image using TCM and
IPL.
Action
Wait until available.
Remove obstruction or clean
the optical window.
Reseat the terminal in cradle.
