Open the upper unit.
G Placing your hand on the upper unit,
open it slowly and fully.
G When the automatic document feeder is
attached:

Close the upper unit.
G Place your hand on the upper unit and
push it down slowly until a "click" is
heard.
G Be careful not to get your fingers caught.
G When the automatic document feeder is
attached.

Close the front cover.
G Reverse the procedure in step 1 to close
it.
