Updating the Software

The following method is used to update the software of the
DFS-900M.

Checking the Software Versions

Before updating the DFS-900M software, check the
current software versions to determine whether to need
software update.

Turn on the POWER switch on the processor unit
(DFS-900M) and on the control panel (BKDF-901/
902).

When using the BKDF-901: If the SHIFT button in the
DME/SETUP block is not lit, press it to light it.

Press the STATUS button.
The most recently used sub menu appears in the
display panel.

Press the h and H buttons in the numeric keypad
until the Firmware1 sub menu appears.

Check the version numbers in the second line.

Press the h and H buttons in the numeric keypad
until the Firmware2 sub menu appears.

Check the version numbers in the second line.

Press the h and H buttons in the numeric keypad
until the Firmware3 sub menu appears.

Check the version numbers in the second line.

MV= 1.01
If you find any item requiring software update, perform the
following operations to update the software.

Preparing for Software Update

Preparing equipment and the most recent
versions of software
• Personal computer
• USB flash drive: Formatted with the FAT16 or FAT32
file system.
Note
• Only connector direct connection type is available.
• Do not use any other type that stores data converted
from other media or uses a conversion adapter.
• Software: Download required software files from the
specified site.
Preparing a USB flash drive for software
update
Extract the downloaded software file into a directory and
copy all the files in the directory to the root directory of a
prepared USB flash drive.
Backing up all data
Be sure to back up all data (system data and file data)
before updating the software because software updating
will initialize the setting values.
• System data: Data such as events, I/O settings, initial
values, and status data.
• File data: Still image file data stored in the control
panel, user pattern data, and sequence data.
Note
On the BKDF-902, you can use only still image files and
user patterns in the data backed up on the BKDF-901.
Updating the Software
Note
Always power off all devices and unplug all power cords
before removing any cable or board.
Preparatory operations

When using the BKDF-902, confirm that pin 2 of the
relevant DIP switch is in the "ON" position.
Note
Pin 1 of this DIP switch is located on the external
device interface connector side.
