Preparing the SBPD

To prepare the SBPD for installation, you'll need to complete the following four tasks:
1. Unpack and check the SBPD components (page 4).
2. Place the overlay on the surface of a large table (page 5).
3. Adjust the optional icon strips, if necessary (pages 5–6).
4. Attach the SMART Pen Tray to the overlay (pages 7–9).

Unpacking and Checking Components

Unpack the contents of the shipping containers and check each item removed against the list
provided below. If any items are missing, contact SMART Technical Support at 1.866.518.6791.
Each SBPD includes the following components:
• an interactive overlay that slides onto your plasma display and is attached with four corner
mounting brackets
• eight bracket knobs and four 1/4-20 x 1/2" hex security screws for attaching the corner
mounting brackets to the overlay, plus a 3/16" hex-head Allen key for tightening the hex
screws
• a Display Control Strip, Custom Strip and Tool Strip inside pockets attached to the
interactive overlay
• a SMART Pen Tray assembly with a bracket attached
• a set of four styluses, an eraser cup and an eraser to equip the Pen Tray
• a DB9-to-DB9 serial cable and SMART Keyboard adapter cable or a USB-to-Serial adapter
cable for connecting the Pen Tray to a computer
• a modular 4-wire (MOD4) cable for connecting the overlay to the Pen Tray
• an RS-232 serial cable for connecting the plasma display to a computer
• a SMART Board Software CD-ROM
• the SMART Board for Plasma Displays Installation Guide and the SMART Board User's
Guide
NOTE: Have the a Phillips No. 2 screwdriver and the supplied hex-head Allen key on hand
when installing the SBPD.
