7. Insert the short DB9 end of the serial cable into the 9-pin serial port at the top of the
controller.
8. Activate the SBPD by installing the SMART Board Software and connecting the SBPD to a
computer as explained on pages 14 – 19.

Configuring the Tool Strip

To use the Tool Strip, you must first perform a quick setup procedure that maps your touch to
the appropriate functionality. This calibration procedure is very simple: you're only required to
touch a single point at each end of the strip.
To map the position of the Tool Strip:
1. For Windows, click the SMART Board Tools icon (
the Control Panel button.

For Macintosh, click the SMART Board Tools icon (

Control Panel.
The SMART Board Control Panel dialog box will appear.
2. In the Boards tab, click the Advanced button and select Plasma Icon Strip Settings from
the pop-up menu that appears.
The Edit Plasma Overlay Settings dialog box will appear.
3. In the Set Up Icon Strips tab, click the Tool Strip button.
An orientation screen will appear.
4. Press the circled A at the top of the Tool Strip.
