Setting Up On-Screen Display Controls for the Plasma

Display
If you're using a SMART Board for Plasma Displays with a Windows computer, you may want
to set up On-Screen Display Controls. That way, you can control your plasma display at the
SBPD surface and prevent image burn-in by automatically putting the plasma display into sleep
mode during periods of inactivity.
To set up On-Screen Display Controls, you'll need to:
1. Connect the Plasma Display to the computer (page 20).
2. Configure the On-Screen Display Controls (pages 20–21).
3. Activate SMART Bulb Saver (page 21).
To connect the plasma display to a Windows computer:
You can find the RS-232 serial cable required for this connection in the accessory box.
1. Connect one end of the provided RS-232 cable into an available serial port on the
computer.
2. Connect the other end of the RS-232 cable into the serial port on the plasma panel.
To Plasma Display
To configure On-Screen Display Controls for the plasma display:
1. Click the SMART Board Tools icon (
Panel button.
The SMART Board Control Panel dialog box will appear.
2. In the Boards tab, click the Advanced button and select On-Screen Controller Settings
from the pop-up menu that appears.
The On-Screen Controller Installer dialog box will appear.
3. In the Serial Port box, select the COM port that you used to connect the plasma display to
your computer.
4. Click the arrow button and select your plasma display from the drop-down list under
Display Controller.
