Overview

The SMART Board for Plasma Displays
(SBPD) is an interactive overlay that adds touch
control and annotation capabilities to various plasma displays. The interactive overlay adds
only 5/8" (1.59 cm) depth to the plasma display (without the SMART Pen Tray
provided with
every SBPD).

The standard SBPD configuration includes a SMART Pen Tray equipped with an eraser and
writing styluses that work in the same way as conventional dry erase markers except with
electronic ink. With the SMART Pen Tray, all you need to do is pick up a stylus and start
writing. Instructions for installing an SBPD with a SMART Pen Tray are provided in the main
body of this guide.

Using the SBPD Without a SMART Pen Tray

You can also order an SBPD that includes a Tool Strip and a single writing stylus instead of a
SMART Pen Tray. With this configuration, you need to select a writing tool from the icon strip
before you can use the stylus to write on the SBPD in electronic ink. For information about
installing an SBPD with the Tool Strip and single writing stylus, refer to Appendix A on pages
26–29. Information about using the Tool Strip is provided in Appendix B on pages 30–32.

Interactive Overlay

The interactive overlay slides onto your plasma display easily and is readily attached with four
mounting brackets. The overlay has a touch resolution of approximately 2000 x 2000 and is
composed of two pieces of analogue-resistive material separated by an air gap.
