Possible Reason/Solution
• Make sure paper is loaded in the paper tray. See "Loading paper"
section.
• Make sure the original is placed face-down on the document
glass or face-up in the ADF. See "Placing the originals" section of
"Setup and Quick Reference Guide".
• You may not be using the correct type of paper for copying. See
"Paper source" section for available paper types
• The sealing tape may be still in the toner cartridge. Remove the
toner cartridge, pull out the sealing tape, and reinstall the toner
cartridge as described on "Installing the toner cartridges" section
of "Setup and Quick Reference Guide"..
• If the toner cartridge is low on toner, the copies will be faded.
Replace the toner cartridge will a new one.
• If the original has a colored background, images in the foreground
may blend too much or the background may be in a different
shade.
• You may have loaded the original upside down. In the ADF, load
the original with the short edge facing in and the side to be
scanned facing up. On the document glass, place the original
face-down with the top left corner of the document located in the
lower right corner of the glass.
• The paper may be too damp or rough. Load new paper of another
type in the bypass tray.
• The toner might be out.
Possible Reason/Solution
• Make sure the phone line is properly connected and the speaker
phone has a dial tone.
• The fax line might be busy transmitting the last fax. Wait for a few
seconds and try again.
• If there is more than one sheet fed in the ADF, fan the through the
pages before feeding them in the ADF to eliminate static and
friction. This will help the machine to grab the pages more easily.
• Check if you have entered the correct fax number.
• Make sure the phone line is properly connected and the speaker
phone has a dial tone.
• Make sure the paper tray is not empty. If the paper tray is empty,
load paper in the paper tray to print the fax.
• If an error occurs in fax transmission or reception, an error
message will appear on the LCD screen. Refer to "Fax application
error" section of "Setup and Quick Reference Guide".
