1A-140 Engine General Information and Diagnosis:
Step
2 1) Turn the ignition switch ON.
2) Measure the voltage between W wire and ground.
Special tool
(A): 09900–25008 (Multi-circuit tester set)
Tester knob indication
Voltage ( )
Steering damper solenoid valve voltage
Approx. 10 V when battery is fully charged condition
((+) terminal: W – (–) terminal: Ground)
Is the voltage OK?

Yes
• W wire shorted to
VCC, or poor "26"
connection failure.
• Br wire open or
shorted to ground, or
poor "25" connection
failure.
• If wire and
connection are OK,
intermittent trouble or
faulty ECM.
• Recheck each
terminal and wire
harness for open
circuit and poor
connection.
• Replace the ECM
with a known good
one, and inspect it
again.
No
• Low battery voltage
or fuse is blown.
• W wire open or
shorted to ground, or
poor "26" connection
failure.
• If wire and
connection are OK,
intermittent trouble or
faulty ECM.
• Recheck each
terminal and wire
harness for open
circuit and poor
connection.
• Replace the ECM
with a known good
one, and inspect it
again.
