11.15 Radar Menus

This section provides information necessary for operation on the three menus concerned with
radar operation. Description is given for items not previously discussed.
11.15.1 Echo Signal menu
The Echo Signal menu mainly provides items for processing the radar picture, such as echo
averaging, contrast and interference rejection.
1. Press [MENU], [9], [3], [3] to open the Echo Signal menu.

MENU : Back to Main Menu.
2. Press [↑] or [↓] to select item desired; [←] or [→] to select option.
3. Press the [MENU] key several times to close the menu.
Echo Color: Select radar echo color. "Color" displays echoes in colors among red (strongest),
yellow and green (weakest), in accordance with echo strength.
Echo Enhance: On long ranges target echoes tend to shrink in bearing direction, making them
difficult to see. On short and medium ranges such as the 1.5, 3 and 6 nm scales, the same size
targets get smaller on the screen as they approach own ship. These are due to the inherent
property of the radiation pattern of the antenna. To enhance target video on short and medium
ranges use the Echo Enhance feature.
