This chapter covers the eleven alarms which generate audio and visual alarms to alert you to
certain conditions.
Note: Several alarms are useful for alerting you to possibly dangerous situations. However, the
captain is always responsible for the safe operation of his ship. FURUNO Electric Company will
not assume responsibility for any damages associated with the use of the alarms.
The eleven alarms which trigger the audio and visual alarms are:
Arrival alarm tells you that you are near a destination waypoint.
Anchor Watch alarm warns that your ship may be dragging its anchor.
XTE (cross-track error) alarm sounds when the cross-track error exceeds a predetermined
value.
Border alarm notifies you when your ship is approaching an area you want to avoid.
Target Proximity alarm warns that you are approaching too close to a target point mark.
Water Temperature alarm sounds when the water temperature goes higher or lower than
the predetermined value, or when it exceeds a predetermined value for more than one
minute.
Water Depth alarm tells you the water depth is higher (or lower) than the predetermined
value.
Current alarm lets you know when the current (tide) speed of a current layer is higher (or
lower) than the preset speed.
Ship's Speed alarm sounds when the ship's speed is higher (or lower) than present speed,
or is out of a preset range.
Wake-up alarm works like an alarm clock.
Timer alarm counts down time, sounding the alarm when time set has elapsed.
When an alarm setting is violated the audio alarm sounds and the alarm violation icon (speaker
mark) appears on the display. When the audio alarm sounds you may silence it with the [CLR]
key. However, the alarm will sound again if the alarm setting is violated.
