24000 km (4000 miles, 7500 miles, 11 000
miles, 15000 miles).
• Carbon deposits in the combu st ion chamber of
the cy l inder head and at the piston crown
will
raise the compression rat io a nd may cause pre-
ignition or overheating.
• Ca rbon deposited at the exhaust port of the
cy linder wi ll prevent
reducing t he output.

Neglect ing the spark p lug eventual ly leads to
difficu lt starting and poor performance . If t he
spa rk plug is used for a long peri od, the electrode
gradua l ly burns away and carbon builds up along
the inside part. In accordance wit h the Per iodic
Maintenance Chart, the spark plug should be in -
spected or rep laced.
• Carbon deposi ts on the spark pl ug wi ll prevent
good sparki ng and cause misfiring. Clean t he
deposits off periodically.
• If the center electrode is fairly
worn down, t he
plug should be replaced. If schedu led, t he plug
gap sets to the proper gap.
