Base Unit Front Fan
Notes: Before removing the front fan, record the following:
The routing of all cables involved in the Replacement procedure of this fan.
The air flow direction of the fan.
Removal
1. Remove the front cover using the procedure on page 4-3.
2. Remove the side cover using the procedure on page 4-6.
3. Put the system unit in horizontal position.
4. Disconnect all of the cables connected to the Micro Channel adapters.
5. Record which cable attaches to which adapter.
6. Disconnect the internal SCSI cable from the SCSI controller.
7. Remove all of the Micro Channel adapters in the unit using the procedure on page 4-14.
(This step applies to base units only.)
8. Unplug the fan power connector.
9. Remove the CPU/memory cards retainer using the procedure on page 4-34. (This step
applies to base units only.)
10.Remove the retaining screw used to anchor the fan support to the frame.

11. Lift the fan and bracket assembly from the system.
