2.3L ENGINE SERVICE (Continued)
Removal
1. Remove outer timing belt cover and timing belt as
outlined in this section.

NOTE: Remove the crankshaft front seal (6700)
while the front cover is still mounted on the
engine.
2. Remove engine oil pan (6675) as outlined in this
section.
Using Front Cover Seal Remover T74P-6700-B,
remove crankshaft front seal.
3. Remove crankshaft damper bolt.
13. Remove four bolts, engine front cover and
gasket.
4. Remove crankshaft damper.
5. Remove crankshaft sprocket (6306).
6. Remove oil pump sprocket bolt. Using Cam
Sprocket Holding/Removing Tool T74P-6256-B;
remove oil pump sprocket.
7. Remove stud, screw, nut, and timing belt
tensioner.
8. Remove two screws and water pump inlet tube
(8290).
9.
Remove one screw and crankshaft position
sensor (6C351).
IO. Remove one bolt and one nut from inner timing
belt cover.
11. Remove inner timing belt cover.
