4. Pull the drive release latch on the right side of the drive towards the center of the adjacent drive
bays, slide the drive to the rear of the bay, then lift the drive from the bay.
Removing the 3.5-Inch Diskette Drive
When replacing this drive, transfer the four guide screws that take the place of drive rails from the
old drive to the new one. There are two guide screws on each side of the drive.
The guide screws mounted on the left side of the drive are standard-head screws. The
guide screws mounted on the right side of the drive are wafer-head screws. The drive
release latch will not work properly if the wrong screws are installed.
To replace the 3.5-inch drive, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION: When servicing the computer, ensure that cables are placed in their proper locations during
the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.
CAUTION: Use only 3/16-inch or 5-mm long screws as guide screws. Longer screws can damage the
internal components of the drive.
