Installing a Child Restraint
System with a Lap/Shoulder Belt
When not using the lower
anchorages system, all child
restraint systems must be secured to
the vehicle with the lap part of a lap/
shoulder belt.
In addition, the lap/shoulder belts in
the back seating positions have a
lockable retractor that must be
activated to secure a child restraint
system.
To properly route a lap/shoulder belt
through a child restraint system,
follow the restraint system maker's
instructions.
For EU countries, refer to page
47
for installing a child restraint
system.
The procedures in the following
pages are described based on a front
facing child restraint system
available in EU countries.
1.
Place the child restraint system in
the desired back seating position.
Make sure the child restraint is
positioned well back in the seat-
back.
If you place the child restraint
system in either rear outer seating
position and use the tether strap for
additional security, make sure to
push down the head restraint to the
lowest position and attach the
attaching clip to the anchor fitting
before securing the child restraint
system with the lap/shoulder belt.
