Emergency Towing

If your vehicle needs to be towed,
call a professional towing service or
organization. Never tow your vehicle
with just a rope or chain. It is very
dangerous.
There are three popular types of
professional towing equipment.
Flat-bed Equipment
loads your vehicle on the back of a
truck.
This is the best way to
transport your vehicle.
Wheel-lift Equipment
truck uses two pivoting arms that go
under the front tyres and lift them
off the ground. The other two rear
tyres remain on the ground.

vehicle.
Sling-type Equipment
truck uses metal cables with hooks
on the ends. These hooks go around
parts of the frame or suspension and

If, due to damage, your vehicle must
be towed with the front wheels on
the ground, do the following:

Release the parking brake.
Shift the transmission to neutral.

transmission):
Release the parking brake.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON

Shift to N.
Make sure that the gear position
indicator shows N.

ACCESSORY (I) position.
Improper towing preparation will

cannot shift the transmission, your

front wheels off the ground.
On vehicles with i-SHIFT
If the gear position indicator does
not show N with the ignition switch
in the ON (II) position, the
transmission may not be shifted to
neutral. In this case, your vehicle
must be transported with the front
wheels off the ground.
