Shifting to a higher gear as early as possible are ways to minimise fuel consump-
tion and to reduce operating noise levels.

Warning and information texts
When switching on the ignition or while driving, some functions in the vehicle and
vehicle components are checked for their condition. Malfunctions are indicated by
red and yellow warning symbols with text messages on the instrument cluster
display (⇒ p age 17) and may also be signalled acoustically. The presentation may
vary depending on the design of the instrument cluster.

The trip counter ( trip ) shows the miles (kilometres), which were driven after the
last reset of the trip counter. The last digit indicates 1/10 miles (100 metres).
