Warning and indicator lights

Brake pedal not depressed!
When switching on the ignition, some warning and indicator lights illuminate
briefly as a function test. They will extinguish after a few seconds.
WARNING
Ignoring illuminated warning lights and text messages may result in breaking
down in traffic, accidents and serious injury.
● Never ignore illuminated warning lights and text messages.
● Stop the vehicle as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.

Driving with bad brakes can cause accidents and serious injuries.
● If the brake system warning light  does not go off or come on while driv-
ing, either the brake fluid level in the reservoir is too low or there is a fault in
the brake system. Immediately stop and seek professional help ⇒  p age 110,

To select a driving stage, depress the brake pedal.

● If the brake system warning light  comes on along with the ABS indicator
light , the control function of the ABS may have failed. In this case, the rear
wheels may block relatively rapidly when braking. Blocking rear wheels can
cause loss of vehicle control! If possible, reduce speed and drive carefully at
low speed to the next specialist garage to have the brakes checked. Avoid
sudden braking and driving manoeuvres on the way.
● If the ABS indicator light  does not go off or comes on while driving, the
ABS does not work properly. The vehicle can be stopped only with the normal
brakes (without ABS). The protection offered by the ABS is not available then.
Visit a specialist garage as soon as possible.
NOTICE
Ignoring illuminated indicator lights and text messages may lead to vehicle
damage.
