116 Starting, shifting gears, parking
Information about the steering

First read and observe the introductory information and safety warn-
ings on page 115.
To make a theft of the vehicle more difficult, the steering should always be locked
before you exit the vehicle.
Mechanical steering lock
Activating the steering lock feature
Park the vehicle ⇒ p age 104.
Remove the vehicle key from the igni-
tion lock.
Turn the steering wheel slightly until
the steering lock clicks into place.
Deactivating the steering lock feature
Turn the steering wheel slightly to re-
lieve the steering lock.
Insert the vehicle key into the ignition
lock.
Hold the steering wheel in this position
and switch on the ignition.
