4. Remove the eyelid.
5. Bring the system up and put it in Normal Up State 13 (jets of
replenisher).
Caution: Do not use the catch pan without its drain line and tank. The pan may
overflow.
6. Inspect the jet curtain falling on to the slanted catcher tray for crooked
jets, raggedness, or any visible irregularities (see Figure 4.7).
If necessary, shift the position of the catch pan slightly to move the
impact line of the jet curtain into a clearly visible location (clear of the
catcher lip).

7. If the jet curtain shows any print irregularities, clean it with a foam
swab. Start in the middle of the array holding the swab at a 45
to the array and draw it along the printhead to remove buildup from
the eyelid seal, orifice plate (see Figure 4.8) and catcher lip (see
Figure 4.7).
Caution: Use each swab only once; the foam disintegrates after prolonged
exposure to replenisher or ink.
Figure 4.8
Caution: Do not press hard, too much pressure can damage the orifice plate, and
be careful to avoid catching the edge of the orifice plate and with the
swab. If caught and pulled, the bond holding the orifice plate can break,
rendering the printhead inoperable.
