3.2 Connecting the Source

The SN-4215-P accepts several types of input signals: PC, MAC, RGB, composite or C-Video, S-Video.
Each of these has several Modes: 640x480 or 800x600 and others for PC and MAC; NTSC, PAL, or
SECAM for video. Each input can be looped out to the next display unit. Video inputs are optional.
Computer connections
The back of the display has two computer
input connectors. Both of these are 15-pin,
VGA-type connectors, labeled PC1 and PC2.
Either connector accepts:
• PC
• MAC
• RGB
These inputs accommodate three types of sync:
• Separate H & V sync
• Composite sync
• Sync on green
The Source Select menu (described in the
next section, p. 3-10) lets you choose which
input, PC1 or PC2, to use. The electronics can
automatically set all the necessary parameters,
such as choosing between 640x480, 800x600
and others.
Connect a computer source to either PC1 or
PC2 input. For MAC or RGB sources, use an
adapter, if necessary, to convert to the VGA pin
arrangement.

Video connections
If the video option is installed, the back of
the display has two video connections, one for
composite video (C-Video) and one for S-Video.
Each of these has a loop-thru output.
The video inputs are terminated internally
with 75 ohms, so it is not necessary to use an
external terminator. The loop-thru output is
buffered.
The video processor automatically chooses
the correct "mode": NTSC, PAL, or SECAM. Or
you can choose the mode manually. You must
choose the proper aspect ratio, as described in a
later section (p. 3-16).
