3.5 Adjusting Displays in a VideoWall

3.5.1 Filling the Wall With One Image

If all the displays in the video wall have Clarity's Big Picture, the Wall Processor feature will do most
of the work for you. The calculations are based of the Group and Unit ID values. Fine adjustments
after these calculations are made with the Position and Zoom controls.
Clarity's Big Picture option will automatically
separate a single image into the required
number of pieces and put each piece in the
separate displays in a video wall. The main
menu item that does this work is Wall
Processor.
How to set up Wall Processor:
1. Send a single picture source to all displays
in a video wall.
• Loop one source through all displays by
using the loop-thru connector.
—or—
• Use an external DA (distribution
amplifier) to feed the same signal to all
displays.
2. On each display, press
open the Monitor ID menu. With the
arrows buttons, set the Group and Unit
values of the upper left display (as viewed
from the front) to 0 and 0. Set the next
display to the right to 0 and 1. Continue
increasing the Group-Unit values in the
displays from left to right, then moving
down one row, like reading in Western
cultures. The diagram shows a 4x4 wall
viewed from the front and numbered
correctly for Big Picture.
The numbers are hexadecimal; the larg-
est number is in the lower right corner (0F
hex = 15 decimal). For walls larger than
16 units, use the Group ID number, so
th
the 17
display would be number 10.

3. In each display, turn on Wall Processor
from the main menu:
Processor.
4. Set the Horizontal and Vertical
values to the number of displays
horizontally and vertically in the wall. The
maximum is a 6x6 wall. All the displays
must have the same value for these, but
each display's Current Unit will be
different (and cannot be changed from this
menu).
5. On each display, highlight
[ ] Calc Wall Pos and press
The electronics uses the values of Group and
Unit and the values of Horizontal and Vertical.
From these, it calculates what portion of the
whole picture to show.
You now see a picture covering the entire
wall. If the edges don't match exactly, you can
adjust them with Position and Zoom as de-
scribed in the next section. Big Picture takes
into account the width of the mullions and
hides some of the picture under the interior
mullions, but does not hide any of the picture
under the mullions around the outside of the
wall.
