3.1 Setup: An Overview

3.1.2 The Power Up Sequence

The turn on sequence has a brief delay, about 5 seconds, so the display doesn't light up immediately.
Apply the main power by turning on the circuit
breaker switch on the power supply. (The power
supply automatically switches between 115 and
230 volt mains.) After a few seconds, the Stand-
by LED will start flashing.
The flashing LED indicates that the electron-
ics module is completing its initialization phase.
You may be able to hear the fans running during
this time. After a few more seconds, the Standby
LED stays on without flashing, which indicates
that the display is ready for a ON command.
Illuminate the display in one of these ways:
• Press the
button on the remote con-
ON
trol.
• Send an RS232 ON command, if the unit
is connected in this manner.
• Press the On/Standby switch in the corner
of the display with a pencil or other point-
ed object.
Auto Panel On
If Auto Panel On is selected in the Misc
Control menu, the display will automatically
illuminate at the end of the lockout period. This
means that if the unit loses power, it will auto-
matically come back on and illuminate without
waiting for an external ON command.
3 - 6
IR Activity
The IR Activity LED flickers whenever the
display electronics detects any infra-red radia-
tion. If this LED is continually lit, it indicates
stray IR radiation coming from something else,
such as xenon lamps. Stray IR radiation can
occasionally cause the unit to misbehave. To
turn off the IR sensor, press
remote control. This turns off the IR
sensor/receiver, and the unit will only respond
to another
command.
MON SEL
On/Standby switch
The On/Standby switch is recessed in a hole,
so you need some pointed object to push it.
Pushing this switch toggles the unit between
On, which illuminates the display and shows
the source pictures, and Standby, where the
electronics module has power, but the display is
not illuminated.
When the unit goes into the lockout mode,
the Standby LED flashes for a while. During this
time it is not possible to illuminate the display
again. When the Standby LED is on without
flashing, the unit is in the Standby mode, wait-
ing for an ON command.
