9-2 Using the UPS monitoring software

* If you do not use the UPS monitoring software, this section is not required.
1. When performing the auto shutdown processing by the UPS monitoring software,
PowerCredit
Using the optional UPS monitoring software along with the UPS allows you to automatically protect data
files and perform shutdown processing of your computer when a power failure occurs.
For more information on connection, installation, and settings for use, refer to the Instruction Manual and
online help of the UPS monitoring software.
The optional UPS monitoring software supports Japanese environment only.
● Connection
For DOS/V PC-98NX Series ... Use the connecting cable attached to PowerCredit.
Connect the connecting cable between the Contact Signal Connector of the UPS and the serial port on
your computer.
● When using under Windows 98/95:
◆ Configuring the setting switches
Specify "0 seconds" as the power output stop delay time setting (setting switches 1 and 2 ).

● When using under Windows Me:
◆ Configuring the setting switches
Specify "60 seconds," "120 seconds," or "Does not stop power output" as the power output stop delay
time setting (setting switches 1 and 2 ).
Specify one of the time settings longer that the time required to shut down the OS for the devices
connected to the UPS (time from when shutting down the OS starts to when the computer automatically
stops so that the power can be stopped).
