Chapter 3 Making Copies Using the Basic Features
Sorting Copies
(Sorter)
This function enables you to sort the copied sheets by
page, or output the copied sheets by group. You can only
use this function when the sorter (optional accessory) is
attached.
MEMO:
If you make copies using the feeder (optional accessory), the machine
automatically selects (auto sort) whether the copies are output to the
sort bins, non-sort bin or non-sort tray according to the number of
originals and copies.
You can change this setting. (See Auto Sort p. 6-6.)
Paper stacks can be inserted in the bins and stapled manually. For
details on how to manually staple documents, see the Reference
Manual, Stapler Sorter Functions p. 6-24.
You can separate your copies by page or groups. The sorter function has "SORT," "GROUP,"
and "STAPLE" modes.
Sorted copies are output onto the sort bins (2nd to 19th bins).
NOTICE:
❍ You can only use the sorter function when the sorter is attached.
❍ Some modes may not be able to be used with Sorting Copies.
MEMO:
Copies are output to the sort bins with the copied surface face up.
■ When Sort is set
Copies are automatically sorted into sets arranged in page order, and output to the bins
in the following way:

When copying using the feeder (optional accessory), copying will stop automatically after outputting 18
sets if you have set the number of sets to 19 or more. Remove all of the paper from the 18 bins, place the
originals in the feeder again, and press the
