Wheel Axle and wheel speed reduction shaft

The wheel axle is easy to lift out of the chain case:

There is a washer between the sprocket and the

upper half of the chain case housing. It may be on the

axle shaft, or it may have come off with the upper

housing. Confirm its location and remove it.

See Figure 5.22.

There is also a washer between the sprocket on the

wheel speed reduction gear and the upper half of the

chain case. Confirm its location and remove it.

Lift the wheel axle, drive chain, and speed reduction

sprocket out as one assembly. See Figure 5.23.

NOTE: The axle and sprocket must be lifted evenly,

or they will bind.

Once the wheel axle and sprocket are lifted out of the

case, remove the spacer and washer that fit below

the axle. See Figure 5.24.
