A.1 Checking the assignment of an IP address
A range of IP addresses is assigned for each interface (see section D.1).
A.1.1

In Windows

In Windows 98
Click Start, select Run, enter winipcfg then click OK; the dedicated application appears.
Check that the IP address entry contains a value other than 0.0.0.0 (192.168.1.10 for
example) for the local area network (LAN) interface connected to the modem.
In Windows XP, 2000 and Me
Click Start, select Run, enter cmd then click OK; the command prompt window appears.
Enter ipconfig then confirm by pressing Enter.
Check that the IP Address entry contains a value other than 0.0.0.0 (192.168.1.10 for
example) for the local area network (LAN) interface connected to the modem.

In Mac (MacOS X for example)

Click the Apple in the menu bar.
Select System Preferences, then click the Network icon.
Check that the IP Address entry contains a value other than 0.0.0.0 (192.168.1.10 for
example) for the local area network (LAN) interface connected to the modem.
