Installing the Pentium II Processor Cartridge

If the system uses a Pentium II processor, it might have one of the following
retention configurations:
T
a processor cartridge that uses fastening devices
T
a processor cartridge that is fitted into a "Universal Retention
Mechanism" requiring no other fasteners.
Install the Pentium II processor cartridge according to the procedures in one of
the following sections.

Installing the Pentium II in a Retention Mechanism with Fasteners
Install a Pentium II processor in a retention mechanism with fasteners as
follows.
Note: NEC CSD recommends that you print out or write
down your current BIOS Setup parameters and store the
information in a safe place before installing a processor.
1. If you are replacing the processor cartridge currently in your system, remove
the cartridge (see "Removing the Pentium II Processor Cartridge").
Before picking up the processor, reduce static discharge by
touching the metal chassis of the system unit.
2. Line the processor up with the guides in the retention mechanism. The heat
sink should face the bottom bar of the heat sink support.
3-20 Disassembly and Reassembly
locking tabs on the processor that clip into the retention mechanism,
and
a "top bar" that slips over the lowest fins of the heat sink (on some
systems)
