Removing the Pentium II Processor Cartridge

If the system uses a Pentium II processor, it might have one of the following
retention configurations:
T
a processor cartridge that uses fastening devices
T
a processor cartridge that is fitted into a "Universal Retention
Mechanism" requiring no other fasteners.
Remove the Pentium II processor cartridge according to the procedures in one of
the following sections.

Removing the Pentium II from a Retention Mechanism with Fasteners
Remove the Pentium II from a retention mechanism with fasteners as follows.
Note: NEC CSD recommends that you print out or write
down your current BIOS Setup parameters and store the
information in a safe place before removing your processor.
1. Turn off the system and disconnect the system power cord.
2. Let the components within the system cool for about 10 minutes before
removing the processor.
If the system has been running, any processor or heat sink
already installed on the board will be hot. To avoid the
possibility of a burn, let the components cool for 10 minutes
before continuing with the procedures described here.
3. Remove the system unit cover (see "Removing the Cover").
