The HP StoreOnce B6000 Series Backup System

The HP StoreOnce B6000 family is a modular system featuring HP's inline de-duplication and
network efficient replication technology (HP StoreOnce). The HP StoreOnce B6000 adds resilience
and extends the capacity of the HP StoreOnce appliance family.
The HP B6200 system is composed of 1 to 4 couplets (the size depends on the customer-specific
configuration). A couplet is a paired combination of two nodes that are directly connected in
failover pairs. Within a couplet each node has access to and can assume the role of both nodes
in the event of node failure. A couplet provides a minimum of storage and this can be expanded
in increments by adding pairs of 12–disk storage shelves up to a maximum of three pairs per
couplet.
Couplets are combined into logical groups managed from a single Web Management Console
and Command Line Interface (CLI), referred to as the B6000 Management Console. This collection
of couplets is known as a cluster. The HP B6200 Backup System supports a maximum cluster of
up to four couplets.
The following drawing shows a single couplet with maximum expansion shelves installed in an HP
B6000 rack. In this example the cluster consists of one couplet.
