Connect the Range to the Electrical Supply
Skip to Step 5 if the power cord shipped on the range does not match your wall
receptacle.
Using an Existing
NEMA 14-50R Receptacle
_: Plug the range power cord into a properlu
grounded wall receptacle. Skipto Step 6
if the range power cord matches the wall
receptacle,
NOTE:Your range is shipped with o &prong plug
to be used in o NEMA14-50R receptacle.Should
you choose to change your plug, use only o 3-
wire power cord, 3-wire conduit or &wire
conduit. Follow the appropriate instructions
below, in Step 5, for your application.
EffectiveJanuary 1, 1996, the National Electrical
Coderequiresthat new construction (not existing)
utilize a &conductor connectionto an electric
range.
A range cord rated at 40 amps with 125/250
minimum volt range is required.A 50-amp range
cord is not recommended but if used, it should
be marked for use with nominal 13/8 " diameter
connection openings. Care should be taken to
center the cable and strain relief within the
knockout hole to keep the edge from
damaging the cable.
NOTE:A &conductor cord is to be used when the
appliance is installed in o mobile home or when
local codes do not permit grounding through the
neutral

Replace the Power Cord [Optional}
Perform this step only #the power cord shipped on the range does not match gout wall
receptacle.

Remove the wire cover (on the back of
the range) bU removing two (2) screws
using a 1/4" nut driven
Do not discurd these screws.

screws from the terminal block and the

Placethe terminal screws and ground
screw in safe location for later use.

Loosen the strain relief screws and remove
the power cord.
NOTE:Thereplacement power cord must be a
3-conductor or a 4-conductor UL-listedrange
cord or conduit. Cords may be provided with ring
terminals on wire and o strain relief device.

Follow the B-wire power cord (option 5A),
B-wire conduit (option SB)or 4-wire conduit
(option SC)sections as appropriate for your
application.
