Notes on connecting t o thecomputer
• Connect the i.LINK cable to the computer lirsl.
then lo your camcorder. Connecling ill the

• The compuler may fi'eeze (71" m ay not recognize
the signal h'om your camcorder in the following
situatinns.
Connecting your camcorder to a computer
thai dnes nol support the video signal formals
appearing on Ihe LCD screen of your
camcorder display (HDV or DV).
Changing [VCR HDV/DV] q_. 77) and
[i.LINK CONV] <p. 79) settings while
connecled with an i.L1NK cable.
Changing [REC FORMAT] selling while
connecled with an i.LINK cable with the
POWER swiMa set to CAMERA (p. 77).
Changing lhe POWER swiMa position while
cnnnecled wilh an i.LINK cable.
• The format (HDV or DV) of inpul/nutput signal
appears nn lhe LCD screen of your camcnrder
while cnnnecled with an i.L1NK cable.
Use the supplied AC Adaptor to obtain AC
power (p. ! 8).
(_) Prepare editing software (not provided).
@ Turn on your computer.
@ Insert a tape into your camcorder and set
the POWER switch to VCR.
(_) Set the menu of your camcorder.
The menu settings vary depending on
the copying image.
(_) Copy images to the computer with your
software.

• If images are copied in HDV format but are not
recognized, your editing software may not
support HDV format. Convert the images to DV
format according to step @ and copy again.
• A tape recorded in DV format cannot be copied
to a computer in HDV fornmt.

• When images recorded in HDV format are
copied 1(7a computer, lhe file size is about 2GB
(almost the same as a DV file) for a 10-minule
movie if the viden compression formal is
MPEG2.
