"_" Tips
• When you press the GAIN button [] while _!
is displayed on the screen next to tile gain value,
[_ disappears and you can adjust the gain
manually. When you press the GAIN button []
again, _ appears and you can adjust the gain
with tile iris ring. See step @ in "Adjusting the
gain" on page 35 lor details on how to adjust the
gain.
• When you press the SHUTTER SPEED button
[] while [_ is displayed on tile screen next to
tile shutter speed value, _ disappears and you
can adjust the shutter speed manually. When
you press tile SHUTTER SPEED button []
again, [_ appears and you can adjust the shutter
speed with the iris ring. See steps @ to @ in
"Adjusting tile shutter speed" on page 35 lot
details on how to adjust the shutter speed.
J Adjusting thegain
]
You can adjust the gain manually when you
do not want to use the AGC (automatic gain
control).
(_) Set the AUTO/MANUAL switch [] to
MANUAL during recording or standby.
@ When the gain is automatically
adjusted, press the GAIN button [_.
The gain value appear on the screen, or
next to the gain value disappears.
@ Set the gain switch [] to H, M or L.
The gain value set for the selected gain
switch position appears on the screen.
You can set the gain value for each gain
switch position fi'om [GAIN SETUP] of
the (CAMERA SET) menu
(p. 66).
"_" Tips
• When you record a movie with the gain set to
[-6dB] and play it back with the data code, tile
gain value is displayed as [---1.
To adjust t hegainautomatically
tS"ess the GAIN button [_, or set the
AUTO/MANUAL switch [] to AUTO.
The gain value disappears, or _ appears
next to the gain value.
fO Notes
• When ynu set 1he AUTO/MANUAL switch []
to AUTO, other mammlly adjusled items (iris,
shuller speed, white balance) also become
aulollratic.
J Adjusting theshutter speed J
You can manually adjust and fix the shutter
speed. You can make a moving subject look
still or emphasize the movement of a
moving subject by adjusting the shutter
speed.
(_) During recording or standb_,; set the
AUTO/MANUAL switch IF] to
MANUAL.
(_) tS"ess the SHUTTER SPEED button []
until the shutter speed value is
highlighted.
@ Change the shutter speed displayed on
the screen by turning the SEL/PUSH
EXEC dial _.
You can set a shutter speed between 1/4
second and 1/10000 second.
The selected shutter speed appears on
the screen. For example, if you select
1/100 second, [100] appears. The larger
the number that appears on the screen,
the faster the shutter speed.
(_) tS"ess the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial [] to
lock the shutter speed.
To readjust the shutter speed, do steps

• You can sel the shutler speed between 1/3
second and 1/10000 second in lhe following
sellings:

• It is diificull to focus automatically at a lower
shuller speed. Manual focusing wilh your
camcorder attached 1(ta lripnd is recommended.
• The picture may flicker or change colors under
fluorescent lamps, sodium lamps, or mercury
lamps.
